Hi, I was wondering if its possible to change the landing page when we select any category from home screen (especially on mobile).

At present when we select any category on home screen we are taken to search result page for that category.

Is it possible to have sub-category page after we select category on home page and then go to search result page on basis of sub-category selection.

For reference have attached 2 screenshots. 1st is for how its working now and 2nd is for the requirement.

Thanks

Yes it is possible, but if it is benefit or not is questionable,
Such feature was i.e. implemented in Veronika theme:

According to statistics, users rarely bother scrolling through four level categories, users simply enter keywords in the search and that's it. I don't even think it makes sense to make categories more than two levels.

Not sure about statistics, maybe they for western countries. I usually prefer going manually through category selection and that's because of 3 things.

1) English is not first language in my country so usually people can make spelling mistakes while searching through search box and will get no result for their search.

2.) Since we have category icons on home screen some people may just click that instead of using search and when they click category icon they will see all items from all sub-categories under that category and not everyone looks for filter.

3) Olx is the major classifieds application used by majority of people in my country since last 10+ years and habit is something which is difficult to change. So people who are already using Olx will find difficulties in using this due to minute things and which is why I was trying to get UI as similar as possible so that we don't have to lose user just because of our UI.

Thanks

Yes that's what I do usually. Each site use different category level and if I want to quickly search, it does not make sense to spend some time with exploring categories and actually get to level where I do not see my category.
On the other side, regular user that wants to watch specific listings may have different opinion :)

No point in discussing further when there is no hope of getting help on this topic. Thanks for replying though

Usually threads when you ask for ready-made solution will not be resolved, you cannot expect that someone will invest its free time in developing something, that is actually not needed or beneficial for product itself and is only custom work request.

Sorry my mistake, I thought when you already have a solution in other 2-3 themes then that wouldn't be a big work for you guys who knows very well about all of their themes structure.

And I didn't asked for something very new which requires development from zero level, but still I understand its a business, no one is here for social work.

And about whether its needed or beneficial for product or not totally depends on the type of end user using it, because billions of people don't think in the same way, some might be comfortable with searching through search box and some people would prefer going through category because search results also shows unwanted items which aren't relevant to users requirement.

And about your custom work, I didn't even think of asking for the price because I know it would cost me more than the theme price which I cannot afford at the moment. Because last time when I was having some requirement of auto geo location in Delta theme similar to epsilon theme, I had asked for quote but because the price was more than the original theme itself, I decided and bought this New Epsilon theme which had what I needed and the theme was cheaper than the custom work price.

But again I would like to apologise for keeping expectations beyond my limit which I realised and I promise I will try and only ask
you for support which is connected to the problem, not to the features.

Thanks for everything.  ;)

You can have solution in theme A and it will not work ok in theme B, because of theme dependencies, style dependencies, JS dependencies etc.
So if you ask "How can I create XY box", it means that someone would code, it, test it and then put you code here. But why would do it someone? Simply it does not make sense, noone works for free... even you do not do it :)

Ready made products takes a lot of hours to develop, but price is shared between all the customers and after some time you can have a profit. As example, Epsilon theme itself took about 500 development hours to complete, as it went from scratch.

But if you ask for something that only you need, then you will suffer higher price as you are only one that is going to cover work on that.

Didn't knew that it takes so much work. Because I have zero coding knowledge and in most of the solutions what you gave here in this forum, I had just seen that you give hardly 4-5 lines of code which usually fixes most users problems and concerns. So, I thought maybe its just copy paste stuff from x theme to this theme because that code was already written in another theme. But thanks for explanation, now I understood.

Thanks again
