What we can do with this?  How to control messages from spam?

Banning that user.

they create new accounts under different names and send new messages.
I do not know how to fight. after blocking the user, messages remain. Can you modify the plugin to delete messages from the admin panel? I do not see another solution

could be very very helpful to have banwords in messenger plugin, will save alot of time. A must feature for messages i would say, hope we will see it one day. Maybe it could take banwords from anti spam plugin?

Having contact form instead would lead to same problem. Best way is to check ip of user and ban its whole submask, or just placing recaptcha into create thread.. if you submit more and more messages, recaptcha gets harder and harder

This spammers can be humans so recaptcha wouldn't work, i have a high traffic site and it works very well for them to advertise links in personal messages. they just say hi, visit this site www.site.com and do that x1000. having a banword "site" would make my job much more simple instead having to go into database, search messages where s_message LIKE %site%
for 4 years i am fighting spam everyday and everyday they find new ways to bypass. Banwords is the best solution for this

They are adding spam messages from accounts that are not as users nor have they been created by users.

You have to implement recaptcha in the plugin because this is automated submission.

Without recaptacha the plugin is useless because it annoys users with spam.

I have the same issue...

Just today i got 60 messages in 2 hours, in my oppinion one of the ways is add to the messenger script an option to set  time interval for sending messages...

For example, the first 3 messages can be sent with out any interval of time,  but the fourth can only be sent after 10 minuts....

I think this can avoid allot of spam....

What osclasspont think about this???

And after 6 block 24 hour....

Whith this for sure can avoid long list of spam

Solution is disable contact form for unlogged users.
Spam bot can be changing mail, IP etcs and no such modifications would make sense.

If i realy wanted i will do it... for now im finishing other thinks like olx style main categories...

Following your suggestion, if i enable messages only for logged user, when i try to send a message i got a blank page telling you need to login to send a message, in my oppinion, this is wrong... the correct is, if try to send a message shoul be redirect to login/signup page with a flash message telling to login or create an account (this for zara theme)

My only problem is time, i'm a programmer in automotive electronic industry...


So i will do it if i want...
