Every time I try to install, I enter the database username and database info and it says it cannot connect to database.

Any idea or tips on installing os class?

Maybe in host you put "localhost" and that is not correctly setup?
Contact your hosting provider to provide proper connection information to database.
I.e. in my hosting I must provide also port, so host looks like:
mysql57.someweb.com:3311
