Clarification republishing item & publish fee
« on: April 24, 2023, 09:04:27 PM »
Could someone give clarification regarding the 'renew' and 'republish' function after the listing period has passed.

background information
- Expiration date: 180 days
- Cron is working
- We currently have Backoffice Manager disabled since it is not connected to the Pay Payment Plugin (which is creating revenue for us) since we found out through the forum that BM isn't connected with the Pay plugin.

First question; is it correct that the button 'republish' is connected to the plugin 'Backoffice Manager'?

In our opinion it is not good to showcase the option 'Auto-Republish' while creating a listing (/item/new/). You don't want to give users the feeling while creating a listing that it might take long to sell.
It might raise questions for the user: "Do I get my money for Auto-Republish back if I sell my item before the expiration date has passed?"

Our request
Since it is not possible to automatically withdraw money from the users after the expiration date has passed: https://forums.osclasspoint.com/osclass-pay-plugin/request-automatic-(withdrawal)-listing-payments-(set-per-time-period)/
It would be better to have the paywall pop-up again once the user hits the button 'renew' or clicks the renew link in the auto-generated email.
We are kindly asking you if such a situation would be feasible for us and other Osclass users or if you have another solution in mind.

In regard to the above mentioned request, we do think there should be a short solution (and find the current situation strange), let me explain:
Currently when someone pays the listing fee, it shows up at the backend of the website as 'Paid' (2) & 'Unpaid' (1) if it hasn't been paid yet.
However, once the expiration date (180 days in our case) has passed the status 'Paid' remains (3). The user is now still able to 'Renew' (backend > Listings > settings) the listing without paying.
What is remarkable is that the options 'Premium' and 'Highlight' (both linked to the Pay Payment plugin) do expire after the set time.
There should be a connection as well with the status 'Paid' and the Pay Payment plugin; if this could become the norm, we would solve the problem(s) and improve the user journey.

Additionally
it would be a good idea to create a short explanation between the differences and correlations between the settings regarding 'renewing'/'republishing' a listing from the following 3 setting options:
1. Osclass backend (/oc-admin/) > Listings > settings (index.php?page=items&action=settings)
2. Pay Payment Plugin > Pay for Republish
3. Backoffice Manager Plugin > Republish

depends on context of plugin.
"Republish" usually means refresh of publish date, no effect on expiration. But in some plugins can be referred as republish of expired listings.
"Renew" should only play with publish date.
To get fast support, we need following details: Detail description, URL to reproduce problem, Screenshots

Hi, still a bit unclear... (please someone else let me know if this was clear for you)

However could you also elaborate on the main part of the message and do you understand the UX and revenue problem we are facing as described below?
