Comment owner email – please test
Osclass already supports emailing the listing owner when someone comments. A bug meant that if comments need admin approval, the owner was never emailed after you approved the comment. Only the commenter got the “comment validated” email.
That is fixed. Please check on your site with the steps below.
1. Settings to enable
Go to: oc-admin → Settings → Comments
- Make sure Enable comments is on.
- If you moderate comments, leave moderation as you use it now (that is the case we fixed).
In the Notifications section on the same page:
- Under Email user whenever, enable: There's a new comment on his listing
- If you use comment replies and want owner/reply emails for those too, also enable: There's a new comment reply on his listing
- Optional: under Email admin whenever, enable A new comment is posted if you want admin mail
Click Save changes.
2. Email template
Go to: oc-admin → Emails (or Pages / Emails, depending on your menu)
Confirm the template email_new_comment_user exists and is enabled. You do not need to edit it for this test.
3. Test with moderation (main case)
Use two different users (or one logged-in user commenting on another user’s listing).
- User A owns a listing.
- User B posts a comment on that listing.
- In oc-admin → Comments, approve / activate User B’s comment.
Expected result:
- User B gets the “comment validated / approved” email (same as before).
- User A (listing owner) gets the new comment on your listing email (email_new_comment_user).
4. Optional quick checks
- If moderation is off and a logged-in user comments: owner should get the email right away.
- If moderation is off and a guest comments: owner should also get the email right away.
5. If the owner still gets nothing
- Confirm the checkbox in step 1 is saved and still checked after reload.
- Confirm the listing has a valid contact email.
- Check spam / junk for the owner address.
- Check oc-admin → Tools → Test email (or your usual mail test) so the site can send mail at all.
The current settings for the comment settings page are as shown in the attachment.
I also checked the Email Templates page: “email_new_comment_user” is available there.
I tried it a few times, but it still didn’t work.
I acted just like a regular user and left a comment on a live listing.
As expected, an email was sent to the admin, and the comment was pending moderation.
I then approved this comment.
The moment I approved the comment, an email was sent to the user who posted it.
However, no message was sent to the person it was actually supposed to reach—the listing owner.
Later, when I sent a test message again through the Email Templates page, it was sent without any issues.
In summary: the issue has not yet been resolved.
