Osclass versioning (4.2, 6.0, 6.2, ...)
« on: November 04, 2020, 08:12:44 PM »
Currently, situation about osclass may look messy.

1. "Russian" edition of osclass
"Evo" branch from Russia use version 4.x.
They continue with natural numbering, however releasing minor updates as major one. (2 months, 3 new features and 7 bug fixes released as 3 major updates). Our versioning (4.x) is actually in conflict with their.

2. "Indian" version of osclass
"Navjot" branch (or mindstellar) from India use version 3.9 but has beta under v5.x. number 5 vas prepared as number 4, but was simply changed to skip 4 at all. Until we've released our osclass edition, we were recommending this one as most standard one. Unfortunatelly, year after 3.9 release there was no other release and no work done on project. Beta at v5 mostly fix minor bugs, shuffle file location or integrate some of functions those we already did in 4.0 or 4.1.

New person starting with osclass may feel confused.
Are v4.x versions compatible/transferable between each other?
Is v5 better than v4 because it has higher number?
Can you upgrade/downgrade between v4 and v5?

Dilema is there if choosing new clean branch number is right step. Maybe it is worth to notice that upcoming update has more features than all osclass updates released in last 8 years.

Help us to decide and set new path for osclass  ;)

I think a name like android could be inserted, something like this:OSCLASSPOINT XXXX 4.2 ,  OSCLASSPOINT 4,2 XXXX

I think v4.2 is the right one. Οn the other hand τhe quality of the work in one of the three that exist with the same name order will be the one that will make the difference and consequently will eliminate the other two.
Your work seems to be rather better and that will be what will prevail.

Translation results
I am Russian, and I am offended that you made an update to version 4.1, translating Russian cities into German.
But I'm not talking about international clarifications, I'm talking about developers.
I respect any nation.
Both Russian developers and your developers have not yet fixed many of the bugs that I found in version 3.8 and earlier.
I'm not a developer, I'm a deletant. This is my hobby. But I hope that all project participants will strive to support the participants, and not just fill their pockets. Thanks

Not qyite sure what you mean, russian cities stays russian, german stays german and each can be translated into what is needed.
"Russian" and "Indian" are in apostrophe as meaning where it is being developed.
No offence, anything like that  ;)

If you found any bug or you are aware of any bug, feel free to put it into Bug report section and we surely check it.

Is just a question of version number, important, is what is inside.. improvements made in all aspects, speed, SEO optimization, new features and so on...

Best regards
