Parent category listing limitation dont work
« on: December 06, 2024, 05:02:07 PM »
Hi all, i have open check "Allow users to select a parent category as a category when inserting or editing a listing" but it work only for root (not all parent) category.

For example i cant create in root catgory (Home) but i can create new listing in subcategory (Major appliances):

Home
+--Major appliaces
|    +-Refrigerators and freezers
|    +-Washmachines and dryers
|    +-Cookers, ovens and microwaves
|    +-Other white
+-- Black technic
|     +-blablabla ...

It is not good settings. Where can i set (if it is possible) only lowest categorie as usable for listings?

That setting means user should be able to select only lowest level category (does not have subcats).
Some category selectors may not support this.
To get fast support, we need following details: Detail description, URL to reproduce problem, Screenshots

I understand that it should be, but it doesn't work. Include your demo servers (to rule out a bug in my installation).

As you can see in the screenshot, I moved the "other jobs" category under "sales", but I am still able to put the ad in "sales" (on your demo server). And that's the problem. That's why I'm asking for, can I make some settings somewhere on my own to make it work as it should? Or is this a fundamental system bug that needs more complex programmer intervention?

Yes, that's right. Thank you for the confirmation.

Then, if this is a bug that will be fixed, I would suggest an extension: for each category, make a "check" or switch to say that the category is available for listings or not. This would also create the ability to make "empty" subcategories as separators, which would improve readability for a large number of subcategories in larger osclass installations.

Have a nice day

Will note it, but not sure if we are going to fix this... at least not any time soon.
