Switching to 8.x from other releases
« on: April 08, 2022, 08:25:41 PM »
Hello.

I have a customer that want to switch to your 8 version. He is running Osclass 5.1.2 from an other release.

I did some test locally. I had to edit the admin theme manually in the db to upgrage.

No issues after the upgrade but one: the country already loaded (USA) is not showing anywhere as enabled. Lost.

Any ideas? It would be better to upgrade to your 4.4 and then to 8?

Thanks

It seems that ugrading to 4.0.1 Location show well. Upgrading to 4.1.1 Locations show well.

Upgrading to 4.2.2 Locations are gone.

Hello
Definitely switch to 4.0 first and then to 8.0 to follow standard upgrade procedure.
I would recommenf to reove oc-includes folder after upgrade and reupload one from osclass package to avoid having mixed content, I think they were shuffling files in core for no good reason.

I will try again today to upgrade, since i have plenty of time right now.

Is only oc-include to delete and reupload or also oc-admin?

Thanks

You can remove and reupload both, just if you use original backoffice theme, keep it in oc-admin/themes (called modern).
In case of issues, only those can be found are related to db structure updates, but theoretically you can handle these obstacles in phpmyadmin manually...

Well no matter what i tried, it failed. I guess it is the locations db that messes things up.

Ok i stopped. Restoring my backup.

What i try to do is going from Osclass 5.1.2 (an other release channel) to Osclasspoint. The website has one country (USA).

Going manually to Osclasspoint 4.0.1 seems ok. After that i end with 8.0.1 and NO location (country) shown anywhere and all listings de-activated (probably because of missing location). Also i can't add any new location.

I have tried a lot of things, manually going to 8.0.1 or auto-updating. Same results.

Anyone else has done that with success? If so, please help.

Thanks

Have yoi tried to add country in phonyadmin?
How does your location tables look like? (Country, region, city, item_location but user table as well).
Comoare it to struct.sql

I do not have the skills to do such things in myphpadmin, like adding something manually.

But i can compare the structures.

Still i lot of work. Something is changing in db AFTER 4.0.1 apparently.

So. More news.

The DB structurs of Osclass 5.1.2 is 100% the same with Osclasspoint 4.0.1. 100% the same. That is the reason why it works when upgraded.

The issue must be after 4.0.1.

But there are many versions until 8.0.1, it will be hard to test them all. It would be nice if Osclasspoint devs point us to the version that changed a lot of locations db structure.

Thanks

Could be a possibility that we must install/update ALL the updates in sequence to reach 8.0.1 ?

Ok, more on this: The issue starts with Osclasspoint 4.2.0.

With 4.2.0 the locations disappear. I will continue and at 8.0.1 i will compare with the other release.

Ok, last attempt and question.

Could that be feasible:

1. Install a new 8.x version. Fresh.

2. Somehow import users, location(s) and ads ?

Does it worth it to try?

Yes but you need to go in correct order and in imported data, make sure you only import colums those exists.

Ie you first import counties, then regions then cities.
You first import item records, then item descriptions and item locations...

Could i post here the two sql structures, the upgraded and a stock 802, and you could provide some hints?

I have completed the upgrade and the site seems working, without any errors anywhere. Stilll there are some differences in the structures (apart from the addons, that is normal).

I completely understand a NO, this is why i ask first.

Thanks
