Title: City area

I'd like to change the city-area field in the user profile to city. I've modify the profile php file and changed it to city from city-area. What is the name of the php file that updates the record. I would assume I would have to change city-area there to city also?

you should just update naming labels for this field, saving should work as it's storing in city area field
