I found that phone number is not masked under public profile, how do I make it masked click to show like in the item.php

this beat the purpose if there is loophole that public user or google bot can access to phone number without have to click to show

Masking is only to ask people click on it, no other reason.
On public profile, there is 99% chance that user already knows phone of seller and there is no need to mask it.

I thought masking is to mask it so that the search engine bot cannot harvest phone number and email. why would you want people to click on the phone number to view it if it doesn't have any other purposes?

To give them feeling they are protected.
You cannot completely hide phone, even bot/harvester will click on it and will get it.
