Classified Ads Archive Plugin for Osclass
Purpose of the Plugin
Many classified ad sites face situations where a product or service becomes temporarily unavailable. In such cases, ad owners typically delete the listings or leave outdated ads on the site.
Both options have drawbacks:
* A deleted listing loses its accumulated SEO traffic and search engine rankings;
* An outdated listing misleads users and degrades the site’s quality.
To solve this problem, we propose developing the “Listing Archive” plugin.
How It Works
The listing author gains an additional action:
* Move the listing to the archive.
* Restore the listing from the archive.
After archiving:
* the listing disappears from the site’s general directory;
* it is not included in searches for active listings;
* it is not displayed in categories;
* it is not displayed on the home page;
* It is not included in “Latest Listings” blocks or similar lists.
However, the listing is not deleted from the database.
Archive Page
The plugin creates a separate public page:
/archive-items
or another SEO-friendly URL.
The page displays all archived listings with pagination.
The following information is available for each listing:
* title;
* photos;
* description;
* price;
* publication date;
* author’s contact information (based on the site’s default settings).
SEO Feature
Archived listings should remain accessible for indexing by search engines.
This allows you to:
* maintain organic traffic;
* avoid losing rankings on Google;
* receive traffic from low-volume search queries;
* preserve the value of previously published content.
A user who finds an archived listing through a Google search will be able to contact the seller to find out:
* when the item will be back in stock;
* whether pre-orders are available;
* whether there are similar offers.
Benefits for Website Owners
The plugin allows you to:
* keep your catalog up to date;
* reduce the number of outdated listings;
* maintain SEO traffic;
* build user trust;
* increase the number of inquiries to sellers.

Sellers can:
* temporarily hide products or services without deleting the listing;

Administrator Features
The administrator can:
* enable or disable the archive feature;
* view the number of archived listings;
* restore or delete archived listings as needed.
Compatibility
The plugin must be compatible with:
* Osclass 8.3+
* PHP 8+
* modern Osclass themes, including Epsilon, Gamma, and other popular templates.
The plugin must use standard Osclass hooks and not be hard-coded to a specific theme.
## Existing Solution
There is already a working classified ads plugin for the Osclass engine, developed by third-party developers.
I will provide the source code for this plugin as an example of implementation and a source of ready-made business logic.
The goal of the project is not necessarily to create a completely new solution from scratch. Depending on the quality and compatibility of the existing code, the following options are possible:
* Adapting the existing plugin for Osclass 8.3+;
* Modernizing the existing plugin;
* porting the functionality to the modern Osclass architecture;
* rewriting the user-facing part of the plugin for compatibility with modern themes;
* creating a new plugin using the existing solution’s ready-made logic.
The existing plugin already implements the core concept of ad archiving, so its code can significantly reduce development and testing time.
The developer’s main task is to create a modern, stable, and compatible solution that will work correctly with current versions of Osclass and popular design templates, without being tightly tied to any specific theme.
The source code of the existing plugin will be provided to the developer for review and use as the basis for the project.
