I had same question as well and was testing scipt itself to get test.
1) recaptcha is active if you see it's icon in bottom right corner - google collect data and must place privacy and terms links
2) to enable checking of functionality, when everything is alright and captcha pass verification, it is reported into console
3) when you create key on captcha key, on same page are stats - you can see how many users were prompted to do test, how many failed and how many passed
4) if your behaviour is unusual - you try to submit forms too often, google starts giving you captcha tests - it is same like if you would click on check button of v2 classic captcha - you get test just rarely

You do not need to, google do it.

I want to ask, what is the advantage or what difference does this plugin have with the one that is free and that is added with the themes (for example starter).
