A few weeks with Osclass 4.4
« on: May 22, 2021, 10:57:05 PM »
It has been a few weeks (3-4) with Osclass 4.4, upgraded from 3.9.

I'm very happy i finally did the upgrade and i would like to thank the developer(s). Thanks guys. Really good work.

I had a very few problems, most solved by now. Also to my surprise the debug.log is almost empty.

 :)

Well not yet on PHP8 because as a professional i never do massive changes all together. Never. I did some tests with PHP8 on a staging server and some plugins do not work well with it. And since there is no fix for them (abandoned) i will see in the future what i will do.

Also i saw no real speed changes with PHP8 with Osclass (AND Wordpress), so why move to PHP8? Probably PHP 8 IS faster IF the scripts are developed to take advantage of 8.

Sure. But Speed is something i didn't saw (compared with 7.4) and security ... well ... we have two layers of security. Immunify360 and a second, so i do not worry.

And about security, Osclass is not popular at all, so we do not have any Osclass specific attacks. Because nobody cares to search Osclass for security issues. All we have are attacks against Osclass installations BUT for Wordpress vulnerabilities !!!

They THINK we run Wordpress !!!

I think that Imagick is not available yet for PHP 8, that is why I don't use it, you are aware if it will be available soon?

No, actually it is not yet available for PHP 8. I don't see it as an extension for PHP8 in my Cpanel.

Dude, we were using your Renew plugin. Is that you?

Is you are, do you have any idea how we can email the admin when a renew happens? Your plugin had that option, Osclass 4.4 build-in renew doesn't seem to have that.

Sorry, if you aren't that guy.

Thanks

It is my plugin, but you cannot add the function because need a core modification and that must be done by MB Themes or you can add that function with a plugin and make some theme modification, actually i don't know how the renew work in osclass core, so i don't know exactly how add that option, i use my plugin and i have the option unchecked in osclass

Thanks for the reply. I think i will also go back to your plugin, since right now we do not know IF an expiration email is actually been sent and also if a Renew happens.

We know nothing about renews, so it is completely useless.

Is Alerts emails working in this version?

I was excited to use OsClass because of this email alert system. After four months of hard work I am almost giving up on this project.

It is working ok for me, was testing it several times on demo.
Few people complained email is not arriving but could not reproduce it and is not clear if cron was setup properly or not.
