Dear Osclass Team,
We’ve observed a change in behavior regarding emoji usage in item titles starting from version 8.3.0 beta.
🔹 In older Osclass versions (< 8.3.0):
Emojis worked perfectly in titles and descriptions.
Emojis in item titles were automatically stripped from the URL slugs, ensuring clean, SEO-friendly URLs.
Resulting URLs were readable, e.g., /best-spa-pune-i123.
🔸 However, in 8.3.0 beta:
Emojis used in item titles are not being stripped from the URL, resulting in broken or unreadable slugs like:
/%%%%-xyz---fwnkn-i123
While emojis still display correctly in the ad title and description, the inclusion in slugs negatively affects SEO and user readability.
✅ Our Request:
We’d like to continue using emojis across the site (titles, descriptions, etc.) for better engagement, but exclude them from being inserted into the URL slug.
🔧 Suggested Fix or Guidance:
If a code-level workaround or patch is available to sanitize item titles from emojis for the slug, please share it.
Ideally, implement a default behavior in the core to strip emojis during slug generation without removing them from the visible title.
Your help in addressing this issue will greatly improve the UX and SEO compatibility for Osclass users relying on emojis in listings.
Thanks in advance for your support and continued improvements to the platform! 🙏
