Sort result by customer field by default

HI,
I need to extract results from a custom field into search page by default.
I added a new rank field and I must order results on search page reffering this.
I spent lot of time to try to understund where I can query the db but invane.
I have not idea how can I do that.
Please help me

That is hard task and require to add custom fields tables and values into search model.

Thanks for your answer. I'll try to find an expert to write the code.
When you said "search model" you mean the script that query db?
I think I can find it into model/search.php on line 80
